Stories We’ve Been Told About Madeira Beach

Photo courtesy of the VSPC Convention Visitor Bureau.

In speaking with residents opposed to the proposed huge developments, it seems that opposition centers on quality of life.  The city continues to tell the press/media and residents how they see things… which we find to be somewhat magical or mythical thinking.

Story #1 –

High Traffic Volume Will Not Be a Problem

Adding over 12,000 cars a day will not be a problem and will not decrease quality of life, we have been told.

This is ...

Good News! Courts to Decide Our Petition

ATTORNEY FILES TO ASSURE RESIDENT RIGHTS

Thanks to attorney Ken Weiss, on August 9, 2016, a complaint was filed to ask the courts to rule on the sufficiency of the petition.

This is the petition that Madeira Beach United volunteers circulated for signatures throughout the city to overturn the Planned Development zoning.  It was presented to City Clerk Aimee Servedio on June 10th.

You may recall that the Madeira Beach City Charter document states that the final ruling on a petition’s sufficiency is up ...

NO WHITE FLAGS FLY OVER MB NEIGHBORHOODS & CONDOS…  Just Red Ones

To our brothers and sisters in TI, the Redingtons and other beaches…
We repeat.  We are not against development – just the size of these projects.

Yes we do need refurbishing, updating, stylizing and improvement at the northern end of our little town, but we did not ask for Universal Studios!

RESIDENTS WERE NOT GIVEN ANY REAL OPTIONS

I know this, because I attended most of the commission meetings. ...

Can the Developers Just Move Forward?

We Are Making Progress

The developers are NOT going to go forward.  Why, you ask, since the Commission voted 4-0 and 3-0?

Well, here is the reply given recently by Ken Weiss, our attorney. The question was,Can the developers just ignore the petition (as the city has) and move ahead?

Letter to the Editor by Kenneth L. Weiss, Esq.

This letter has been submitted to the Tampa Bay Times for publication. We wanted to post it here as well just in case the editor decides not to publish this.

Editor,

Re: Madeira Beach approves redevelopment despite objections from 1000
voters.

Once more elected official gave the voters a middle finger. This time it’s
the Madeira Beach commission that rejected a petition to schedule a
referendum to repeal a proposed zoning ordinance that permitted increased
height and density for two proposed developments. More ...
