Stories We’ve Been Told About Madeira Beach

Photo courtesy of the VSPC Convention Visitor Bureau.

In speaking with residents opposed to the proposed huge developments, it seems that opposition centers on quality of life.  The city continues to tell the press/media and residents how they see things… which we find to be somewhat magical or mythical thinking.

Story #1 –

High Traffic Volume Will Not Be a Problem

Adding over 12,000 cars a day will not be a problem and will not decrease quality of life, we have been told.

This is ...

The Cost of MB Government

THE PRICE TO RESIDENTS OF THIS COMMISSION

The Beach Beacon’s article, “Ethics Complaints Could End Up Costing Taxpayers” by Wayne Ayers, we think, needs a better title. The REAL story and more correct title should be “MB RESIDENTS AT RISK”.

We say this because Mayor Palladeno and the 3 commissioners – in attendance at the August 9, 2016, Board of Commissioners meeting – voted to offer a blank check to lawyers representing city officials and employees with ethics complaints filed against them ...

Good News! Courts to Decide Our Petition

ATTORNEY FILES TO ASSURE RESIDENT RIGHTS

Thanks to attorney Ken Weiss, on August 9, 2016, a complaint was filed to ask the courts to rule on the sufficiency of the petition.

This is the petition that Madeira Beach United volunteers circulated for signatures throughout the city to overturn the Planned Development zoning.  It was presented to City Clerk Aimee Servedio on June 10th.

You may recall that the Madeira Beach City Charter document states that the final ruling on a petition’s sufficiency is up ...

Who is Houshang Ghovaee? aka Housh Ghovaee

Editorial Sent by a Madeira Beach Resident

Appointed to Madeira Beach City Commission & Vice Mayor, 7/9/2016

Mr. Ghovaee was appointed to the commission without any public discussion of his background.  Some have asked: What kind of force and spokesperson he will be for residents of Madeira Beach?

We have heard questions like:

  • Will he help the mayor and city manager control the budget, or
  • Will he continue the reckless spending spree for dubious projects that has buried the city in a mountain of ...

Did You Hear the One About the Sunshine Violations?

Sunshine Violations for Palladeno, Lister, Hodges

Well, Madeira Beach officials seem to be trivializing this legal action, too, but we think it is not a joke!
This is the third lawsuit we have filed against the City of Madeira Beach.  It is about the way in which the selection of the Interim Commissioner was done.

  • The reason for the violation is that Florida statutes require all official acts to be taken only at meetings open to the public.

    From the Florida Statutes:

Viewpoint – No White Flag Here!

NO WHITE FLAGS FLY OVER MB NEIGHBORHOODS & CONDOS…  Just Red Ones

To our brothers and sisters in TI, the Redingtons and other beaches…
We repeat.  We are not against development – just the size of these projects.

Yes we do need refurbishing, updating, stylizing and improvement at the northern end of our little town, but we did not ask for Universal Studios!

RESIDENTS WERE NOT GIVEN ANY REAL OPTIONS

I know this, because I attended most of the commission meetings. ...

4th Action Against Madeira Beach Commissioners

Thursday, July 14th, New Lawsuit Filed against City

Residents are not giving up on stopping the massive developments that the current City Commission and City Manager support.

ATTORNEYS CONTINUE TO ACT TO HALT CITY ACTIONS

The lawsuit filed yesterday assures City Official and the City Manager that residents are NOT DONE YET, and we understand that another lawsuit is coming TODAY, July 15th!

The lawsuit filed yesterday CHALLENGES the rezoning of the Holiday Isles (Holton) and Town Center (Karns) projects, based ...

Turn Up the Heat!

Signatures Count Too

If you are one of the over 1,000 citizens who signed the petitions, we feel city hall would like to hear from you.

At this time the petitions are still being denied by Attorney Trask, representing the city. They are hoping if they ignore us, we will go away!

We followed all the rules – and then some – and worked countless hours.  We had many volunteers who had never ...

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TEXT AMENDMENT
